As a preparatory measure for the ‘new normal’, the Learning Innovations through Technology (LITe) team has organized an online Professional Development (PD) Boot Camp for ADI teachers which commenced last 8th of June, 2020.

The aforementioned team, led by Mr. Aldren Camposagrado, created this month-long online training in response to the school’s CBL Program, with the aim of preparing and setting up the educators with aptitudes required for the new ordinary which is off-site learning.

Composed of synchronous and asynchronous sessions, each week of the training focuses on different themes: Learning Management Systems, G-mail & Online/Office Collaboration Tools, Assessment Tools & Cloud Storage, and Web Conferencing & Digital Citizenship.

For the asynchronous session, in a given week, the group discharges the self-guided learning modules on Day 1. Teachers will at that point go through the modules and answer learning checkpoints until Day 4. Day 5 is set as online consultation day. This is the synchronous part. Teachers are given a web conference link to participate and talk with the LITe group. Also, teachers may pose inquiries, give tidbits of knowledge and best practices, and present issues that they have experienced all through the course week.

“For online training like this, we allow them to spend an hour or less reading and working on the module and it also allows them to experience the same training on their own time and pace. We get to collect the questions and answer them in one place so it is easy to monitor. Also with the modules, they can go back to it whenever they need to,” said Mrs. Claire Biñas-Peñol, member of the LITe team, when asked about how this online training varies from face-to-face training.

The group planned it in a manner that would permit them to simulate how the CBL program functions. This is additionally a path for them to level the aptitudes of both the new and tenured instructors.

“This will be part of the future of education and it will continue to develop. So we also have to keep up with it”, said Mrs. Peñol when asked if she will undertake this kind of training in future years.
